Description:
Blue Wing Olive, Krystal Wing
The upright wing made from krystal-flash provides the ideal wing silhouette and added visibility for the fly fisher.
The Blue Wing Olive (BWO) provides some of the most prolific hatch activity across the country. There are many Blue Wing Olive species that emerge as early a January and as late as the season's end when snow may often cover the ground. For this reason several sizes should be maintained. The Blue Wing Olive name is primarily associated with the Baetidae family, where alone there are over fifty noted species. This pattern is somewhat universal and is used to imitate a number of Mayfly insect species belonging to several different taxonomic families.
